I've had some interesting discussions with the Germans I live with about politics here and in the States. I have actually found that we agree on almost all issues and have found it hysterical when they start talking about our previous president. Most of the people I have encountered have a very high view of Obama and are expecting good things, though we agreed that there's a lot to be done and it'll take everyone cooperating to do it. I laugh every time I walk into one of the main campus buildings, The Super-C, because there is a life-sized Obama standing in the lobby for no apparent reason with text behind him saying something along the lines of "Europe is 50 years old." I think it's something to do with the Aachen having an important anniversary soon, though the Germans themselves admitted they were a little unsure.

It's also election season over here, with the most important positions being for the European Union. I was actually there when Arne sent in his ballot and it was quite possibly the longest sheet of paper I have ever seen here. It is so interesting to talk about all of the different parties they have here and see the diversity of ideologies that are covered by the various groups. Anyway, the main point of this isn't so much the politics as the images that I have seen for the campaigns, such as this one from what sounds essentially like "The Green Party", who are warning about the potential threats of bioengineered foods in the above picture.
